However, I must say how much I love my part time job as a Library Assistant. I've been applying for actual Librarian jobs, but I am in the land of the waiting. I'm hoping to get a full time Librarian job sometime in the very near future. Right now though, everything is lovely. I have time to read and that is what I have been doing.
I also am so glad that I have access to all of these awesome archived webinars from Infopeople and YALSA. I wish that ALSC would allow their members to view archived webinars for free, but unfortunately I would have to pay extra if I wanted to watch any of those. Luckily Infopeople has a lot of archived webinars about children's services.
At work I am trying to put together a Teen Mom literacy raffle. Basically the moms could win prizes for doing early literacy tasks with their little one. I am also working on a "Ready to Read" presentation for October, so I'm excited about that! Then I'm going to be working with children at a refugee center again like I was during the summer, only on a smaller scale. As a Library Assistant I look for ways to get out and do programming and outreach.
Basically reading, working, and professional development are my life right now. :)
Here are some books I've read recently:

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
(Expected available October 27th, 2015-Obtained ARC from Netgalley)
The frustrating thing about this book is that it was so amazingly good until the point where one of the characters is interrogated with the threat of dying. The interrogation ends up as a big reveal/infodump. I felt like it was lazy on the part of the author.
Since I received an advance copy, the part I have a problem with may change in the final copy.
This book is a page turner. I had to know what happened next and even stayed up late reading it. It's the rare book that can induce me to do that. I honestly loved Jo's character. She's brave and intelligent, but also a bit of a risk taker and too trusting.
I liked the way the book tied up. I would be so happy to give this book one more star if it weren't for the character infodump toward the end.

It's always nice to revisit Avatar. In this volume an old children's legend comes to life and targets Zuko's throne. Zuko is getting more comfortable in his own skin as a nice guy. I love Zuko's Uncle as always, I just needed more of Sokka's lighthearted humor. I enjoyed this title. I am curious to see who the Kemurikage are and if they have anything to do with Azula.

(Available September 1st, 2015-Read ARC borrowed from a coworker). This book was fabulous! It is like Harry Potter meets The Last Airbender. This is the kind of story I've been craving for quite some time. Funny thing, I haven't even read the first book in this series! But this book really is that good, you can skip the first book and not feel completely lost. Though I am definitely going to read or listen to the first book ASAP.
The main character is constantly questioning whether or not he is good or evil. Some of his actions he puts on his evil list, and some he puts on his good list. He's always hoping his good guy list wins. When it comes to his friends and his dad, as a reader I was constantly rooting for him to make the right choices.
I love the friendships, the magic, and the realness of the characters. I highly recommend this book, and I don't recommend just any advanced copy that comes my way. I had a hard time putting this book down and feel it deserves high praise.
