The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Amy and Dan have a choice to inherit a great fortune or take their chance with the first of 39 clues. Can you guess what they choose? They have to figure out how to begin their journey before being placed in state custody.
This book is full of action and old secrets, similar to that of the movie "National Treasure," only this book covers more geography. Be prepared for a full scale scavenger hunt spanning numerous sequels. If you are familiar with the "Percy Jackson" series you will recognize Riordan's style of mixing historical facts with fiction.
I'm reading this book based on the target audience rather than my own taste specifically. I believe both girls and boys around fourth grade will be interested in this book. I listened to the audio format. This would make a great traveling companion for the whole family. It would be great for a 5-6 hour drive.
Love note to librarians: "The librarians came to their aid like soldiers responding to a battle cry."
