My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is the second book in "The Infernal Devices" series. Tessa Gray is still unsure what race she is exactly. Is she a warlock? If so, why doesn't she have the traditional warlock markings? Her brother Nate may have given her a clue as to what she is, but it doesn't sound right.
This book has multiple vantage points. The book is reminiscent of "Howl's Moving Castle" in that Will has a demon to face. He must face the demon before he can give his heart away. However, Jem's feelings toward Tessa may complicate matters.
"Clockwork Prince" has a forward moving pace with layers of characterization and backstories--the reason why the book is nearly 500 pages long. This book sucked me in. There are plot twists and moments that I really felt for the characters.
My biggest gripe with this book was the character narration. I mean, no one really talks like these characters do. Not in England, not in any time period.
