My son Nathan is allowed to read for an hour after he is put to bed. We usually put him down at 8pm and let him read with a flashlight. At 9pm he has to have all lights off and actually sleep.
It might be hard tonight though. He is toward the end of Fablehaven #1. He might end up trying to keep his flashlight on to see what happens, we'll see.
