Book Review: 'Beyonders' book 3
"Beyonders: Chasing the Prophecy," by Brandon Mull, 512 pages
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
What a creative book! I love that Brandon Mull gives both elements of surprise and prediction. The plots and subplots worked well together for an ultimately epic ending. Many of the characters have their shining moments to be heroes. Really, that is what the book is about. It's about bringing heroes out of retirement and empowering new possible heroes. Working together this crew had many sad moments and victorious moments.
My least favorite part was when Brandon Mull dragged out getting to a particular chapter I wanted to read by making me put up with Rachel's whining over and over again about her repetitive doubts. That is my grand complaint in the whole book. Then after the whining chapters, there is a tremendously heart wrenching chapter to get through before getting to the desired chapter. Lovely pacing. If I had to have waited one more chapter for this desired chapter I was going to tear up the book already. Luckily the torture didn't last longer. The whole reason for the 4 stars is basically too much repetitive whining on Rachel's part. The Nedwin chapters were genius.
