This Friday I will finally have my MLS (Master of Library Science) degree in hand. I have worked long and hard for this so it is a big deal. I have family coming to support me as I walk with my classmates.
During my time as a library science student I have had the opportunity to make resource lists, build a website, work with fellow students, come up with library programming ideas, learn about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) resources, and participate in hands on learning.

Recently I joined ULA. I am currently the Public Section vice chair and I am serving on the Youth Services Round Table. I intend on fully participating in these capacities. I have set up a Facebook group and a Pinterest account for the ULA Public Section and I've written a blog post for the YSRT blog.
I am currently volunteering in a library as I look for a job. I've mostly done RFID tagging (putting electronic stickers in books), but I've also done a little shelving as well.
Recently I attended a training on intellectual freedom. It was really good. I think all librarians need a reminder on what intellectual freedom means for collection management. Patrons have the right to read what they want. As librarians we need to make sure we are offering the books that community members want, even if we don't care for the material.
