"Ramona the Pest," by Beverly Cleary, 192 pages
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
From the "boing-boing" curls to the "dawnzer" song, this book just touches my heart. Beverly Cleary captures the essence of what it is like to be a girl in kindergarten.
Ramona loves Susan's hair, she loves singing the "Star-Spangled Banner," and she loves her kindergarten teacher.
All Ramona wants throughout this story is the love and attention of others, most especially the love and attention of Miss Binney. She works at getting that attention and love. She is just a little louder, a little more imaginative, and a little more troublesome than the rest of her classmates. She is a fun and interesting character that I will not soon forget.
Read it. Read it with your children.
